Be aware, take a deep breath and acknowledge what is going on. The helicopter view allows you to take the bigger picture. This cannot be achieved through normal day-in-day-out routine activity.

 

Why?

 

In your daily routine, you are dealing with the obvious issues, jumping at you, only to make you react on a ‘piece-meal’ ---- one aspect at a time, without seeing all the parts that compose the organization as a whole. You would be more tempted to respond to the daily issues, putting out fires and would still not see the entire picture.  

 

It would be compared to ‘staying’ in the bush where you are so actively involved, yet at the same time trying to get the entire plan from that horizontal view. It’s like not seeing the forest from the trees.

 

 

 

The helicopter view is the stop.

 

 

 

It allows you to verify, understand, identify and just plainly ‘see’ the aspects of your business.  One of the very important unseen elements is the ‘infrastructure’ of your business, its foundation: what makes it work together and what holds it together.

 

 

 

STRUCTURE IS NOT VISIBLE, and as a rule, business owners base their decisions on the inner-workings, the people, the content and the process of the business’ operations, without ever lying eyes on its structure.

 

Why?

 

 

 

It is not visible from where they stand! Just like a building, its foundation is hidden, if there is one.

 

 

 

Therefore, any type of effort made to improve the organization or part of it, comes from a specific issue: one that is visible to the eye, irritating, costing money, and mostly causing pain of some kind. Unfortunately, this approach causes a business owner to solve issues at a very shallow level, leaving out the deeper roots of a business structure, thus failing to produce the very bottom line of success that is sought.
